AboutWelcome to The Suspension Workshop, Golden Bike Shop's state of the art mountain bike suspension service center. Another part of the GBS commitment to providing you with the best feeling ride in the front range. From years of experience supporting the most in depth and expert repair services, we have all the right parts, tools, and knowledge required to service and upgrade your suspension in a clean, sophisticated environment.
When Does my suspension need service? At The Suspension Workshop we adhere to the manufacturer's recommended servicing intervals. Service intervals vary by manufacturer, however most recommend a mid-season service around 50 hours and a full service after 100-200 hours or yearly, whichever comes first.
What is carried out in a typical service at the suspension workshop?Services at The Suspension Workshop entail a thorough inspection and test of the fork or shock's condition. We record all of the customer’s pressure, compression and rebound settings. We clean the components, and release any air pressure. Next, we remove the lowers or the air can, and perform tear down. This requires removing all the old oil and seals. All parts are then cleaned using isopropyl alcohol, inspected for damage and wear. Then the seals are replaced and the fork or shock is rebuilt with FOX or RockShox factory oil. The fork or shock is inflated to customer’s recommended pressure using nitrogen. The fork or shock's function is checked on a dyno, and is monitored for loss of air pressure over a 12 hour period before getting sent home with its owner.
Do you provide a service warranty?Yes, we provide a 90 day service warranty from date of service completion. This warranty is subject to our discretion and may not cover your recently serviced fork or shock if it is subject to wear or misuse.
Why Nitrogen charge my shock? We charge forks and shocks with Nitrogen because Nitrogen is an inert gas. This makes it a property-free, non-reactive substance. Air, unlike Nitrogen, contains about 20% Oxygen. Oxygen and water contamination in air chambers can lead to corrosion and the failure of rubber and metal components. Nitrogen, when used in your suspension will not lead to these forms of corrosion. Nitrogen will give your shock longer life than a shock filled with air. Additionally nitrogen has larger molecules than air so it is less likely to permeate through seals.
What is the turnaround time for services? Most fork and shock services are completed, tested and ready for pick up within 48hrs. Some more extensive services may take an extra day or two. Shim stack configuration updates are subject to parts availability.
Can you custom tune my fork or shock? We stock fork and shock volume spacers and we have the ability to tune your valve assembly using manufacturer-supplied shim stack configurations.
