Pivot Trail 429

Overview

The newly redesigned Trail 429 from Pivot Cycles is everything we expected and more. Still fitting itself between the Mach 4 SL and the Switchblade, the Trail 429 acquires the now standard "Progressive Trail Geometry" but with XC race pedaling efficiency. The new Trail still comes with 130mm up front and 120mm in the back with an 'Enduro' build option that sees a Fox 36 140mm up front. There is a flip-chip for geometry adjustment that sees a 0.5° slacker headtube and seatube angle in the "Lower BB" setting. We view this bike as a lighter (27lbs on Pro X01 build, size Medium), lesser travel Switchblade with a similar geometry for added downhill confidence and capability.
